Exterminator Discusses the Process for Exterminating Termites

Expert Exterminator Milberger Pest Control discusses the process for exterminating termites in this week’s blog. If you suspect you have termites and are wondering what extermination looks like, keep reading.

The first step in exterminating termites is a thorough inspection of your home or property. We examine from the ground up looking for routes of entry for the little pests. Different factors including weather and season can affect their habits, but your home is never safe from termites since they remain active 365 days a year.

Because homeowners’ insurance typically doesn’t cover termite damage or treatment, Milberger recommends annual inspections (they’re free from us!) and routine maintenance on your home to protect from any sort of pest infestation.

After inspection, we can begin treatment or “extermination”. Gone are the days of mandatory fumigation for termites. You can remain in your home while we begin our soil-applied and in-home barrier treatments.

The first pest control for termites Milberger offers is Sentricon. The Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System not only does away with termites efficiently, it also eliminates any type of mess. The only part of the treatment unit that can be seen above ground is the cap, and it closely resembles the heads of an underground sprinkler system. The same unit is used to detect the presence of termites and treat then when discovered.

Sentricon is a good choice because it:
·         Uses active ingredients only when termites are present
·         Can detect termites before they enter structure
·         No drilling to the structure required
·         Eliminates entire termite colony

The other termite treatment used by Milberger is Termidor. Termidor® termiticide/insecticide is a professional exterminator termite defense product effective on native subterranean termites, Formosan termites, and drywood termites. It utilizes an advanced nonrepellent, or “undetectable,” liquid technology that termites cannot see, smell, taste, or avoid. Instead, they contact, ingest, and share Termidor unknowingly with the rest of the colony which causes extermination of the termites.

To control subterranean termites, a liquid Termidor® termiticide/insecticide termite treatment is applied with precision along the foundation walls or exterior perimeter of your home. The treatment uses time-tested application methods at very low rates. It is virtually odor free and won’t cause any disruption to your family’s normal routines.

When termites eat Termidor treated material, they will die. But Termidor doesn’t stop there. It kills termites on contact as well. And since termites can’t detect its presence, termites directly ingest and contact Termidor as they go about their normal routines.
